Immigration podcast
Today in human geography class on November 29th, we listened to a podcast on immigration and we talked about having a speech and debate about immigration. The podcast was about non reformon and how it is not returning people. In order to get an Asylum you must be being persecuted or being threatened, race, nationality, religion, political view, or social groups. Also when all the jews were fleeing from Germany and trying to come to other countries no one would let them in because no one wanted more people to come in and invade their country and most important most countries didn't want more crime and invasion. Also the jews that were fleeing were people who didn't have a lot f money so most countries didn't want them to come in because they would have to pay for everything for them and it would be hard because most countries didn't have enough money to support the millions of jews that water to come in which left them with no where to go. Most of the jews that did get into countries were able to tell the terrible horror stories and other stories about how rough they lived there lives and hard it was for them to even survive.

Interregional Migration
Today in human geo class on November 27th, we first started with a packet on the unit we have just started and we read through some of the packet to understand it in the the real world now and what is really happening. After that we started to move on with our notes and we are using a powerpoint and copying down the notes that are read over and explained so that we better understand it in our own words. Perceived economic betterment typically compels individuals to make interregional migrations. Historically enticement of abundant available land on the American Frontier. Presently most jobs, especially in services, are clustered in urban areas. Westward expansion contributed to a shift in the center if population and it was known as the center of population gravity.

The Cultural Landscape
Today In human geo class on November 26th, we started a new unit on the cultural landscape and we first reviewed the unit key issues which are 4 based unit questions. Next we reviewed mobility and it is the most generalized term that refers to all types of movement. Journeying each day to work and school and weekly visits to local shops. Also annual trips to visit relatives who live in a different state. Short-term and repetitive acts of mobility are referred to as circulation. A permanent move to a new location constitutes location. Ravenstein's laws for the distance that migrants typically move and most migrants relocate a short distance and remain within the same country and long-distance migrants move to other countries or the head of there major centers of economic activity. Migration can be divided into 2 categories. 1. International migration is permanent move from one country to another. 2. Internal migration is permanent move within the same country.

Worksheet review and quiz
Today in human geo class on November 20th, we reviewed a worksheet we had done on watching a video about Hans Rosling and how he taught global health and we filled out a worksheet while watching the video and today we reviewed the answers and went over it. After we finished that we took a quiz on the worksheet and the video and it helped that hr reviewed the worksheet before the quiz so that way it was fresh in our minds right before we took the quiz. Also we talked about the 5 stages and what each of them means in reference to the world and each country. We also reviewed and talked about how he had set up the chart and what it was all about and what it was explaining that he had put a certain topic on the y-axis and a certain topic on the x-axis. I found it interesting that he split it into 2 topics which were poor and sick and rich and healthy and the poor and sick were represented at the bottom part of the chart and the rich and healthy were represented at the top part of the chart. I also learned a lot of new facts while watching the video and even some things that were on the worksheet like the 5 stages and how each country fits into them and also that the Industrial revolution first started in England and hoe it affected England.

Comprehension check video
Today in human geography class on November 16th we watched a video on population and migration and we did a worksheet which was a statistical Analysis/ comprehension check and we watched a video about a man who taught global health ad what it was all about. I found it very interesting because it was cool to learn about the history about the Industrial revolution in the late 1700s and how the history was which each country that was affected and in the video the countries were color coded with a specific color to represent them. The video also mentioned that the chart the guy had made represented income on the x-axis and life span or life expectancy on the y-axis. The chart was mainly focused on the poor and sick people at the time he was teaching the course and it was represented on the lower part of the chart. The upper part of the chart was represented with the rich and healthy people in the world and how easy they had it compared to the poor and sick people who had no money to support them selves and how hard it was to get by day by day not knowing what to expect.

Test Review
Today in human geography class on November 14th, we got our unit tests back on population and growth and overall I didn't do the best but the mistakes I made on the test I felt were just because I didn't take my time and really focus on what I was doing. Also I feel like I need to fix my study habbit's because I feel like I get distracted and don't focus on studying the stuff that's actually going to be on the test. Also I really liked the unit because I found it very interesting because you get to learn about each country and what the country is all about and how the country is doing. On tests I think I need to be more focused on just the test so that way it's better for me to concentrate.

Population and health
Today In human geography class on October 9th, we started a new unit called the cultural landscape and it's all about population and health. Population concentrations- 2/3 of the world's inhabitants are clustered in four regions. East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Europe. The site situation of population clusters- low lying areas with fertile soil and temperate climate. Near an ocean or near a river with easy access to an ocean. Population density is sparsely populated regions and density can be computed in up to three ways for a place. Humans avoid clustering in certain physical environments such as dry lands, wet lands, cold lands, and high lands. The 3 types of density are 1. Arithmetic density which is dividing the population by the land area. 2. Physiological density which is number of people supported by a unit area of farmable or arable land also the dividing the population. 3. Agricultural diversity is the ratio of the number of farmers to an amount of arable land also it is the dividing of the population of farmers by the arable land area. Componets of population growth- geographers measure population change in a country or the world as a whole by using 3 measures. Crude birth rate (CBR), Crude death rate (CDR), and Natural increase rate (NIR).

After test
Today In human geography class on October 8th we took our unit assessment on population growth and population pyramids. I felt really prepared for the test because it we studied a lot in class and went over most things and it helped because it made the information easier to remember which was helpful for the test. Also I really like that Mr.Schick goes over what the test is going to be on and what to specifically study which helps because then if you already know some stuff you don't have to keep reviewing the same thing over and over gain instead you can just focus on what Is a challenge for you and make sure you learn in and know it. I also really liked this unit beacause I found the Factbook on the website very interesting because I never really looked into any of that stuff until it was for class and I really enjoyed looking at each country and seeing what the country is all about and how is.

Test review
Today in human geography class on October 6th we reviewed for our test tomorrow and we went on the cia.gov website and look at some of the different countries. We looked at a lot of different countries and the percentage numbers for men and women of each state and how the difference between the number of men and women there are to each chart. We mostly looked at what the chart was and what it was saying. The state was the thing that mattered the most because it showed what was going on and what the theme of the chart mostly was. We also reviewed and looked at the growth population of a lot of different countries and looked at how much it is growing each year and per month and the countries with the highest birth rate were the countries that were mostly crowded and didn't have a long life expectancy.

Review of population growth
Today In human geography class on October 5th, we reviewed the 3 types of charts the Christmas tree, the cup, and the box graph. We looked at a lot of different countries and the percentage numbers for men and women of each state and how the difference between the number of men and women there are to each chart. We mostly looked at what the chart was and what it was saying. The state was the thing that mattered the most because it showed what was going on and what the theme of the chart mostly was.
