The Cultural Landscape

Today In human geo class on November 26th, we started a new unit on the cultural landscape and we first reviewed the unit key issues which are 4 based unit questions. Next we reviewed mobility and it is the most generalized term that refers to all types of movement. Journeying each day to work and school and weekly visits to local shops. Also annual trips to visit relatives who live in a different state. Short-term and repetitive acts of mobility are referred to as circulation. A permanent move to a new location constitutes location. Ravenstein's laws for the distance that migrants typically move and most migrants relocate a short distance and remain within the same country and long-distance migrants move to other countries or the head of there major centers of economic activity. Migration can be divided into 2 categories. 1. International migration is permanent move from one country to another. 2. Internal migration is permanent move within the same country.
