Class before exams,2018

Today in human geography class on December 14th, we reviewed our last unit test on immigration and talked about the test more into depth and how much immigration has affected the Unites states. We went over the test and each person had to read a question and explain why each answer they chose was right and explain why it was that answer. We also went over our study guide and and reviewed everything and he told us what to specifically study for and what to expect on the exam so that way we knew what the layout and format was going to be. I thought that it was a huge help that he went over the study guide and explained everything to us because it helped so that was I can get all my notes, tests, and quizzes, and blogs all together so I can go back and review each things to make sure I know what I'm doing. Also, it was good that he explained stuff we needed to know. So far when he explained that we were going to be reading a story on the exam and answering a lot of multiple choice questions I liked that better because then yo always have something to refer back to if you get stuck on a question you don't know or you don't remember something it's a good way to help you. Overall, I think I'm ready for the exam because I've been reviewing a little each night and that's helped because then the information stays fresh in my Brian and I can think back if I get stuck on something.

Last day for the essay

Today in Human geography class on December 13th, we continued to work on our essays and peer edit them if wanted to so that way we could fix things and the people could point out what we either good and we can add or what we need to get rid of or fix to make it sound better. After he gave us time to work on the essay we talked about plagiarism and how you can have a lot of consequences if you get caught doing it. I learned that it had become a very big deal because your taking other people's work and using it as your own and that Is especially wrong because you are not giving them any credit for it. Also, it's just better to come up with your own ideas and use your own information because then you know that your safe and can't get in any trouble for taking other people's work. Overall on my essay I really liked that we had more time to work on it because then it was easier to plan things out and get all my information together and figure out what I was going to say and it was easier because then I didn't have to rush and do it in a certain amount of time and I was able to take my time and make sure it was detailed and had a lot of facts to back up my points and factual information to explain all my points. The essay helped me learn a lot more about the topic chose which was immigration and it helped because now I can understand it better the people talk about it.

After essay

Today in human geography class on December ll, we had a sub and I worked on my essay that's due Friday for the exam and I am really happy that one of the questions had to deal with immigration because that is one of my favorite topic's to take a lot about because it's interesting to see what everyone thinks and how everyone feels about the president and how everyone likes him. Also it is interesting to see and learn about immigration and how people feel about illegal immigrants and people seeking Asylums and trying to get their whole families into the United States. Overall I am happy we had time in class to work on the essay because it was a help to talk about my ideas with people and see what there perspective was about immigration and how many people should be aloud in our country. The Essay I think is a good help to help our grade is we do bad on the exam or not know a lot of questions and don't Finish. Also for the essay it was a good thing to do because it will teach us to be better writers and how to do papers on our own and one thing that I struggled I with before was starting the essayed ending the essay and it really helped me because now I know how to start it without it sounding terrible and I learned how to end the essay and try to limit the words I and me and instead use other terms to explain it better.

Migration test

Today in human geography class on December 11th, we took our unit migration test and I think it was  fairly easy and I didn't expect it to be that much but I also thought that it was a good kind of review for the exam because it had a lot of vocabulary on it that was from the unit and it helped to kind of refresh my memory which is good way to remember each word but I definitely think that I am going to have to study the immigration things and how each country has it's own laws and rules for illegal immigrants and people who are trying to seek asylums which is hard to get and most people that do apply for them end of waiting months or even years to get them and then when they do they can be split up from there family or not everyone is able to get in which Is sad because then kids and there parents can't be together and grow up and after that they mat never see each other again and see there kids grow up. Also I think this unit was very interesting because it was an interesting topic to talk about and when my class had a small debate about it, it got heated really quick because a lot of people made some really good points and other people didn't know how to back up there ideas.

Immigrants

Today in human geography class on December 7th, we continued to take notes off the migration powerpoint and we talked about the Mexican border and a lot about how trump was going to build a wall to keep the immigrants out from coming in the country illegally and instead you have to actually cross the border and get permission to enter the country. The notes we took today were the view from the United States recognizes motives that compel unauthorized immigrants to enter illegally are employment, family reunification, and a better way of life. The view from Mexico is residents of southern Mexico are less tolerant because numbers of unauthorized immigrants entering Mexico from Guatemala. Immigration concerns in the U.S. are border control because they would like more effective border control, but they don't want to spend more money.Workplace most recognizes that unauthorized immigrants take jobs from U.S. citizens but they understand most citizens would not take those jobs.  So they support a path to the U.S. citizenship for these unauthorized immigrants.  The Europe population growth is fueled by immigration from other regions of the world, which is a trend disliked by many Europeans.  The biggest fear is that the host country's culture would be lost because immigrants adhere to different religions, speak different languages, practice different food and cultural habits.  Hostility to immigrants has become a central plank of some political parties in many European countries.  Most immigrants are blamed for crime, unemployment rates and high welfare costs.  Europe was the source of most emigrants in the 19th century. Indo-European languages are now spoken by over half the world.  Christianity has the world's largest number of adherents. When traveling to the U.S. to illegally pass the border or go the right way, most long distance travelers are males and most are adult individuals who are seeing work.

Controlling migration

Today in human geography class on December 6th, we started to take notes off the powerpoint and learned about how countries have adopted selective immigration policies passing the act Quota Act in 1921 and the national Orgins Act in 1924 by the U.S congress marked the end of unrestricted immigration to the united States. More seek admission to the U.S than Is permitted by the Quotas, thus preferences are shown toward family reunions which is about 3/4 of immigrants, skilled workers is about 1/4 immigrants and diversity- a few immigrants admitted, because their sending country historically has sent very few migrants. Unauthorized immigrants are those who enter a country without proper documents. Source country is 58% emigrate from Mexico, children- 11.2 million unauthorized immigrants nearly 1 million are children, unauthorized immigrants have given birth to about 4.5 million. In 2010 35% of adults had been in the U.S for more then 15 years illegally.

reading and notes

Today on December 5th, in class we got a handout and we had to read through and highlight important information and then summarize it in our notebooks and write it all down. While I was reading through he packet and taking notes on the side and pulling out the important information I actually found it interesting because I learned a lot of new words and how migration works and the part about the border I found interesting because a lot of the stuff that was said I had no idea how any of that stuff worked I just knew it was dangerous because your getting all the people that want to cross into the country but don't really have a lot of reasons they just want to get out of Mexico or wherever there migrating from. There was also a part that talked about Ellis Island and how that worked with all the different people that came over on boats from other countries trying to get into the U.S but couldn't and it was sad because some families they left some of there family members in and then not the rest so it was sometimes only not even half of there family getting in which is sad because then the others are left behind not knowing if they will ever see there loved ones again or where they will be sent and it was hard because they spent all this time on dirty ships that were crowded and there were a lot of diseases that killed people on the way so they suffered all that time and now can't be let in because of certain restrictions.

Test retake

Today in human geography class on November 30th, I retook my migration test and I feel a lot more confident about the test retake so hopefully I did a lot better to bring my grade up. Also in class we continued to listen to the podcast on how immigration and the president runs everything and also we learned all about the borders and how people are able to get Asylums to get into our country and after the podcast is over our class is supposed to have a speech and debate about how we each feel about immigration and if it Is fair and how the president makes decisions and if they are fair or not. The podcast I find very interesting because it's interesting to see everyone's different point of view on thing and how they thunk it's fair to not. Overall so far I think that a limited amount of immigrants from other countries should be able to enter the United States because then our country has to put out more money to take care of those people and get them jobs and make sure they have enough food to survive.

Final class/test day

Today in human geography class on January 17th, we took our final test on the world religions unit and overall I felt really prepared and I ...
