Controlling migration
Today in human geography class on December 6th, we started to take notes off the powerpoint and learned about how countries have adopted selective immigration policies passing the act Quota Act in 1921 and the national Orgins Act in 1924 by the U.S congress marked the end of unrestricted immigration to the united States. More seek admission to the U.S than Is permitted by the Quotas, thus preferences are shown toward family reunions which is about 3/4 of immigrants, skilled workers is about 1/4 immigrants and diversity- a few immigrants admitted, because their sending country historically has sent very few migrants. Unauthorized immigrants are those who enter a country without proper documents. Source country is 58% emigrate from Mexico, children- 11.2 million unauthorized immigrants nearly 1 million are children, unauthorized immigrants have given birth to about 4.5 million. In 2010 35% of adults had been in the U.S for more then 15 years illegally.
