Population Pyramids

Today in human geography class on October 31st, we started to learn all about population pyramids. We use population pyramids to analyze growth or decline of fertility, mortality, and migration in cities. On the pyramids females are represented and shown on the right side and males are shown on the left side. The three basic shapes are the Christmas tree, the box, and the cup. The Christmas tree represents developing nations. The growth rates are slow, the birth rates are high, and the life expectancy is short. For example the countries Bangladesh and Namibia are represented as these.
The box represents developed nations, and slow growth. Low infant mortality, slow population growth, and long life expectancy. Some examples of countries that have this are Swedan and the USA The cup represents developed nations and negative growth. Low birth rate, shrinking population, and long life expectancy is all shown. Some countries that are examples are Japan and Italy.
