Notes Review

Today in human geo class we reviewed and went over our notes to make sure we had everything written down that we were supposed to have. we specifically focused on maps and there scales and keys. I learned that there at three different types of regions which are formal regions, functional regions, and vernacular regions. I also learned that there are three different types of GPS elements which are global positioning systems, tracking systems to monitor and control satellites, a receiver from earth and to use information to calculate it's precise location. I also learned that location can be identified in three different ways which are place names- a toponym is the name given to a place on earth. Site- the physical character of a place. situation- the location of a place relative to other places. Also region is very important on maps because it's a unique area on maps that's distinctive. Also lastly distortion is very important because it's the movement of points and places on the earth and maps.
