All about maps

Today in class I learned all about map scales and how the measurement works on a scale. I learned that a scale is presented in three different way which are ratios, fractions and just regular scales. Also,  I learned about the 4 types of distortion which I never knew about before and I thought it was interesting how almost everything can be distorted and how points increase and decrease, and the distance between two points can be overlaid on a scale to determine the distance on earths surface and the scientific method of transferring locations on earth's surface to a flat map is called projection. Also, earth's spherical shape causes distortion when drawing it on a flat piece of paper which I found interesting because everything shifts when you re daw the map and world by hand.
