Elements of maps

Today in human geo class we learned about what the GPS is and how satellites are used to work and how they are placed in predetermined orbits. Also, tracking systems are used to used monitor and control satellites. We also learned that a place is a specific place on earth distinguished by a particular characteristic. Geographers describe a feature place on earth by describing and identifying it's location. I also learned that it's easier to find certain and exact locations on a map by there longitude and latitude which are the exact points or coordinates of countries or States or islands on maps. I also learned that maps are very useful in trying to find things out or to get exact data.
